JOiiNT LAB takes part in the Opening Ceremony of the 2025–2026 Academic Year at the University of Bergamo

On Wednesday, 26 November, the University of Bergamo inaugurated the 2025–2026 Academic Year with an institutional ceremony held in the historic Aula Magna of Sant’Agostino — a space that, for one day, transformed into an immersive showcase of robotics, automation, and artificial intelligence.

For this special occasion, the University invited JOiiNT LAB to participate in the event by showcasing some of its most representative technological assets. Together with Intellimech and the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), the laboratory contributed to a unique setup featuring industrial robots and teleoperation systems.

AlterEgo welcomes the Rector and distinguished guests

Among the exhibited technologies, the teleoperation robot AlterEgo played a central role.
At the opening of the ceremony, AlterEgo had the honour of welcoming Rector Sergio Cavalieri and his guest of honour, Prof. Oliver Riedel, by delivering the scroll containing the University’s musical anthem.
A symbolic and powerful gesture — one that highlights the growing intersection between humanistic tradition and technological innovation.

Aula Magna transformed into a space for innovation

Throughout the ceremony, robots and interactive technologies populated the Aula Magna, offering attendees a tangible glimpse into the scientific and industrial ecosystem that distinguishes the Bergamo territory.

In his institutional address, Rector Cavalieri emphasized the profound transformations underway in society:

“Automation, robotics and artificial intelligence are reshaping our relationship with work and the functioning of economic, social and cultural systems,” he noted, pointing out how digital transformation “is already influencing our cognitive processes and the way we think.”

The Rector highlighted UniBG’s strategic commitment to artificial intelligence and underlined the value of the collaboration network involving JOiiNT LAB, IIT, Intellimech, and the broader innovation ecosystem.

A strong sign of collaboration between research, industry and academia

JOiiNT LAB’s presence at the ceremony serves as a concrete example of how researchindustry, and education can collaborate to shape the future of technology.
The partnership between UniBG, IIT and Intellimech — expressed daily through the activities of the laboratory — demonstrates how territorial collaboration can generate knowledge, opportunities and impact.
